It’s old news, but if you don’t know yet, cell phones cause cancer. Cell phones have been around since 1973 and Smartphones (dumbphones) since 1992. Have people forgotten about the electromagnetic radiation that emits from these little handheld computers? If people are aware of the unhealthy effects on the body from the phone, perhaps they are ignoring it due to their ever-increasing addiction to it.
Cancer and Cell Phones
Yes, there are many ways to increase your risk of getting Cancer, smoking, poor eating habits, lack of exercise, genetics, and stress but let us not forget that cell phone usage is one of the causes. 4.77 billion people in the world use a cellular device every day. We go out of our way to get to the gym, take a yoga class, practice meditation and spend a fortune on organic produce just to keep our bodies healthy, but we just can not seem to put down the damn cell phone.
People keep cell phones in their back pockets and even sleep next to them. Millenials would feel as if they lost their security blanket if they walked outside without a phone in their hands. Pregnant mothers hold phones on their blossoming bellies while they are searching Pinterest for nursery decorating ideas. Fussy children are instantly handed a cell phone to quiet their temper tantrums. If we care so much about our health why do we allow these cancer-causing devices in our life?
Even when you have the device powered off, it has a minimal amount of radio waves transmitting from it. Not quite enough to cause you harm but over time it can add up. We all love the conveniences of cell phones, but we are truly overusing them. Do we need cell phones? Can we live life without them? This is really something we should consider.
A Few Helpful Tips
There are a few things that you can do to minimize the risk of radiation coming from your smartphone. Always power off your device when not in use and store it in another room. Stay away from lengthy phone conversations instead meet up in person. Do not keep your phone in your pocket or anywhere on your body. Use earpieces or speakerphone when you can. Text over calling if at all possible. If you find that the reception is lousy wait until you see a better signal before completing the call. Use the cell phone only during emergencies or when going on long road trips. Get a landline!! OPTOFF.
If you are like the millions that can not live without their cell phone and you want to decrease the radio waves coming from the phone, you can try the hippy-dippy approach and keep black tourmaline around your device.
